Ultra Spec HP DTM Acrylic is a water-based direct-to-metal enamel that goes on without a separate primer. Three sheens — Low Lustre, Semi-Gloss, and Gloss — cover everything from structural steel and railings to equipment and fencing.
Why choose it: Self-priming on ferrous and non-ferrous metal saves a coat. Superior rust inhibition and corrosion control hold up in demanding environments. Fast dry (1 hour) and recoat (4 hours) keep crews moving. Soap and water cleanup, low odor. LEED v4 eligible.
Best for: Structural steel, railings, Bilco doors, equipment, roof decks, fencing, masonry, wood. Interior and exterior maintenance painting.
Key details: Interior/Exterior. Low Lustre (HP25), Semi-Gloss (HP29), or Gloss (HP28). Covers 320 sq ft/gal. Dry to touch in 1 hour; recoat in 4 hours @ 77°F. Clean water cleanup. HP25: 45 g/L VOC. HP28/HP29: ~148 g/L VOC.
Professional note: HP25 Low Lustre carries the lowest VOC at 45 g/L and is ideal where sheen needs to be subdued. For gloss retention and color stability on exposed metal, HP28 Gloss outperforms alkyd alternatives.
